DTF Heat Press Instructions

Follow these instructions to achieve the best results with your B&E Designs DTF transfers. Heat presses and fabrics can vary, so we strongly recommend testing one transfer before completing a full production run.

Recommended Starting Settings

• Temperature: 300°F–320°F

• Pressing Time: 12–15 seconds

• Pressure: Medium to firm

• Peel: Warm or cool peel

• Final Press: 5–10 seconds

These are general starting settings. Heat-sensitive fabrics, including some polyester materials, may require a lower temperature. Always check the garment manufacturer’s care instructions before pressing.

Step 1: Prepare the Garment

Place the garment flat on the heat press. Make sure the pressing area is clean, dry, and free of wrinkles, lint, seams, buttons, or zippers.

Pre-press the garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. Allow it to cool briefly before positioning the transfer.

Step 2: Position the Transfer

Place the DTF transfer on the garment with the printed design facing down toward the fabric and the clear carrier film facing upward.

Check the placement carefully before pressing. Use heat-resistant tape if needed to prevent the transfer from moving.

Step 3: Press the Transfer

Press at 300°F–320°F for 12–15 seconds using medium to firm, even pressure. Do not slide or move the heat press while applying pressure.

Uneven pressure may cause parts of the transfer to lift or fail to bond correctly.

Step 4: Peel the Film

Allow the transfer to become warm or cool before slowly removing the carrier film. Peel the film smoothly from one corner.

If any part of the design lifts, place the film back down and press again for a few more seconds. Do not continue peeling if the transfer has not fully adhered.

Step 5: Final Press

Cover the finished design with parchment paper or a protective finishing sheet. Press again for 5–10 seconds using medium pressure.

This final press helps improve the transfer’s finish, durability, and bond to the garment.

Washing and Care Instructions

For longer-lasting results:

• Wait at least 24 hours before washing

• Turn the garment inside out

• Wash with cold or warm water

• Use a mild detergent

• Do not use bleach or fabric softener

• Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry

• Do not iron directly over the design

• Avoid dry cleaning

Important Notice

A commercial heat press is recommended for consistent temperature and pressure. Household irons are not recommended because they may not provide enough heat or even pressure.
